Provides Reception for the Dental Department in the Hospital.
Any 3 days per week (8:30-4:30pm) Monday-Thursday

Receptionist is assisting the department of several Dentists and Hygienists
Maintain and monitor patient schedules within AbelDent.
Communicate with patients/families and respond to patient enquiries; problem solve; review and document chart notations and treatment plan options as directed by staff
On behalf of the Clinic Manager/Dentist-in-Chief/Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons acts as a liaison with secretarial, nursing and dental assisting staff, visiting students and other programs and departments affiliated with the Department of Dentistry.
As directed, is responsible for coordinating the scheduling/predeterminations approval and correspondence for patients’ proposed treatment and continuing care.
Educate patients in practice policies such as financial responsibilities and appointment scheduling (as evidenced by patient compliance)
Review details of treatment plans in reference to dental/medical procedures codes; fees associated and completion of computerized dental insurance forms and predeterminations
As directed, prepares daily, weekly, monthly AbelDent financial reports.
Organizes and maintains accurate and current filing system / patient records.
Participates in regular departmental meetings as directed by Clinic Manager.
Participates in the maintenance of office equipment, inventory and orders supplies; patient education materials.
Works closely with office administrator of the OMFS department with regards to the daily operations of the OMFS department
Triage and book referrals to the OMFS department
Performs additional ad hoc duties as required
Completion of post-secondary Dental Assistant or Dental Administration course from an accredited community college.
3-5 years recent full-time dental office experience in a computerized environment
Experience with Surgery considered an asset
Proficient in Dental Office Software (AbelDent)
Proficient in MS Office (Word, Excel, Access, Outlook)
Demonstrated knowledge of dental practice scheduling and treatment coordination of multiple dentists utilizing a dental software program.
Demonstrated knowledge of dental practice financial policies and accountability to establish financial arrangements, treatment planning and completion of predeterminations and dental insurance claims, electronic claim submission, AbelDent financial reporting utilizing dental software programs (under the direction of Clinic Manager).
Demonstrated knowledge of dental insurance plans i.e. the ODA Fee Guide, Ontario Works and ODSP, Federal Government (e.g. NHIB) Guidelines and Fee Schedules.
Demonstrated ability to effectively function as a “team” member both intra and inter-departmentally and ability to establish excellent working relationships with the Clinical Staff.
Proven flexibility, initiative, excellent communication, organizational and problem solving/decision making skills.
Ability to communicate and read using English in order to effectively perform the essential requirements of this position.
Demonstrated ability to establish excellent patient/public relations; awareness and assurance of patient related / clinic confidentiality.
Demonstrated planning and organizational skills and ability to function independently with minimal supervision.
Demonstrated satisfactory work performance and attendance history.
